The Albia Police Department is excited to introduce the newest (and most unique!) member of our team — Officer Bonsai, Chief of Shellcurity.
Officer Bonsai is a sulcata tortoise, an endangered species native to the southern edge of the Sahara Desert. She was recently found wandering in Wisconsin and thankfully rescued. Our own Compliance Officer Williams — a seasoned reptile rescuer — was contacted to help. Without hesitation, she drove 14 hours round trip to bring Bonsai safely to her new home here in Iowa.
Now officially a part of our department, Officer Bonsai takes her duties seriously. She patrols under desks, keeps a close eye on workplace shenanigans, and makes sure everything is running… slowly but smoothly. Her favorite pastimes include basking in sunny spots and taste-testing leafy greens.
CSO Williams will be responsible for ensuring Bonsai’s care, comfort, and well-being — and we’re confident she’s in great hands.
Please help us give a warm welcome to Officer Bonsai! 🐢💼🌿
